Ok so at the beginning of January I had a post about goals, goals I wanted to achieve and smash….and I think I did that!
But this post is all about the importance of goals…why bother? When should you set them?
First question….why? Well why not, it’s good to have goal/ambitions/aims as they help keep you motivated, active and focused. It can mean the start of something new or the end of something and of you smash the goals then that’s a great feeling to have! That awesome feeling of completion is a feeling a love and a feeling that keeps me going!
Second question….when? Whenever you want! I like to use the start of a new month (but you don’t have to at all) to set new goals as then the end of the month is my ‘smash’ line, it’s when I see how far I’ve come and if I feel I’ve completed what I had set out to do. They can be huge or small goals, life changing or little either way set them and smash them!
At the end of the month see what you wrote down at the beginning of the month and see what you’ve done about that goal. If it’s completed, tick it off. If it isn’t, keep going! There is no failure here if you keep up the motivation.
Journals/diary’s/bullet journals are so good for keeping you on track and tracking your progress and how close you are to reaching your goal.
Yes it’s another 2018 post….now we have addressed that let’s get down to it! I’m not normally a new year new me kinda gal…so I’m setting goals and aims instead!
January is a month of ‘new things’ for me! I’m getting new hair, starting a new gym and oh yeah….A NEW JOB!!!! I’ve had my hair cut shorter so it healthier for when I go lighter/blonder. I’m finally getting back into the gym after a few health issues (I will vlog about this so keep checking the channel) and finally, I leave my job and branch into the world of travel!
First goal….A new job can be nervous enough, let alone stepping into an industry I know very little about. I have been to 3 countries in my whole life but decided to go for it and try something different. I went for a job I had no experience in but thought it sounded like an amazing career! I had 3 interview stages and literally screamed on the train when I had the phone call to congratulate me! And then the nerves set in! Was I good enough, why chose me? And finally can I do this?! And YES, yes I can and my goal is to excel at this and embrace the change.
Second goal….Gym. Getting back and getting healthy again. I’m not over weight and I know that, if anything it’s more for my mental health and the social side of things, so this week I’m going back and hoping to smash it and keep going and to try the classes and help to improve my health and maybe even take up yoga again!
Third goal….Social media. Yes I said it and call me shallow but hear me out…. I mean my blog and YouTube side of things. I want to keep blogging and expand my YouTube and keep making content and videos and growing! Search for me on YouTube: rio corbett and come and join my family and journey!
4th goal….Qualifications. This year I will complete a mental health awareness course. This qualification will be so beneficial not only for myself but so I can help others. Whether it be professionally or by helping family and friends. I know it will help me to help people and that’s a pretty cool qualification and ability to have if you ask me!
5th and final goal….Holiday. I’m really hoping this year will be the year me and olli have a holiday! We haven’t been away together for 5 years due to work and other issues so I’m hoping this year will be our year and we get away.
Let me know any goals/aims you guys have…and how you are going to smash them! Let’s do this….
Hi and welcome to my November favourites! Keep reading to see what items I’ve been loving/trying out this November!
My first product I’ve been loving this sleepy lotion/cream from lush, I have made a more in depth post about this if you want to take a look. It’s really helped me sleep deeper and wake up more refreshed!
My second item was bought on a whim to make up my order to get free delivery! It’s the LA girl concealer. I’ve had their colour corrected before so had always wanted to to the ‘normal’ concealer and I’m glad I did, it’s great coverage and for the price (under £5) it’s a bargain!
Now my next item is my favourite….something I had wanted for ages and was so happy when it popped up when it was Black Friday and I got a bargain! I got my hands on a morphe palette and these colours are me in a palette…especially for the bargain price of £11.50….thankyouuu beauty bay!
Another makeup palette I’ve got my hands on is the makeup revolution brighter than your future highlight palette! I have done a blog post and a YouTube video on (https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCQHbLYeqZwyOscFpw8VF21g?layout=mobile&client=mv-google) explaining how much I love it and what to do with the shades you may not use so you get the most out of your £15
The last item on my list is skincare. I was contacted by this brand called ‘luvenesco’ and asked if I wanted to try out their product and I was more than happy too! It’s a retinol hydrating cream so it adds moisture and it’s anti-ageing too….perfect for winter!
I’ll start by saying that this awesome idea was not mine, well not fully mine, it was an idea that developed into a plan. It was suggested to me by the guy I’m seeing, that maybe we should buy each other an outfit with little help from the other person! I was all for it as I was very interested to see what he would pick for me.
We headed to the nearest shopping centre and started off with a walk around a few various shops and gauged an idea of what the other one did and didnt like!! Safe to say he was actually better at it than me with guessing what I would/wouldn’t like!
Then it was time to split up and shop….I had an idea in my head of the outfit I thought would look good and I had previously dropped some non-subtle hints whilst perusing the shops as to what I think I may buy him! I opted for neutral colours, black grey and khaki as I know they looked good on him! I ended up buying it all from H&M as it was really disappointing to realise that men just don’t have the vast amount of choice we do, and that their shopping options/choices are so limited and so much smaller compared to ours.
I went with and bought a beige/stone coloured knotted style jumper, a black zip up hoodie (unzipped) and a dark khaki green bomber jacket teamed with black skinny jeans. This, to me, was such a good colour palette for him as it really suits him.
Then it was my turn….and as a self confessed picky person I was so happy with what was chosen/bought! A black velvet style bodysuit with lace up and beading detail on the chest, a great black pair of ripped jeans (perfect staple and fit) and a distressed light blue denim jacket all from topshop. This outfit is so me and I can’t wait to wear it out! He got the sizes perfect and I think this was such a good idea he had!
This was such a good day out and I highly recommend you put your partner/friend to this challenge and see what they choose for you and see what they would like to see in! Or has anyone else done this kind of thing? If so how did it go?
So a few weeks ago I was very lucky to have been asked to be a hair model and then a bridal model for the day! I was given this idea by one of the girls doing my hair that maybe I should blog about my day, so here it goes….
First off all the day started off in the salon getting my hair curled, pinned and put up! They had chosen such a lovely bridal hair design that I couldn’t wait to see the end result! I had done my makeup myself and opted for a simple cut crease with a nude lip so nothing was detracted away from the hair and dress. My hair was curled and put into rollers and then it was off to the next venue….the hotel/bridal show.
We were in a stunning local hotel amongst other bridal related stalls and hair/makeup/beauticians. It was there we had our hair finished off and the final ‘hair look’ was created, which you can see below, the girls are so talented at the hair boutique Truro and I couldn’t believe how good it looked!
After the bridal show it was a quick drive down to the bridal studio and we were given our dresses. We were so lucky to be included in this shoot as it was for a rebranding of a lovely wedding dress studio, Elaine Rawlings bridal. We were given our dresses and shoes and then it was a short walk to the stunning location!
It was being shot in the garden of a huge townhouse. The garden was gorgeous it was filled with lovely flowers, weeping willows and lovely little corners which were perfect for photographs! I’ve just had a couple of images back to share with you and I’m so pleased with how they’ve turned out!
I’ve heard of w7 for a while and had been introduced to them by seeing various youtubers using their eye palettes as they have been making dupes of big name palettes. But when they bought out a naked heat dupe then I had check them out to make a purchase (or 4)
I bought the blazin’ eye palette, glowcomotion highlighter, lip scrub, contour sticks and the winter nudes lipstick. All the items arrived within 4 days of ordering and the postage was free so that was a nice bonus too!
The first and most exciting product was the naked heat dupe called blazin’ the colour are very similar and I was very pleasantly surprised about how pigmented the shades were! They are so similar to the naked heat colours and for £9.95 it’s a bargain and although the shadows have a little fall out in the pan the overall coverage is great!
The second item I tried was the contour crayons. It’s a set of 3, contour, bronze and a matte highlight crayons and it also comes with a handy sharpener. I wasn’t such a fan of the contour shade due to it being a bit light in colour for me but I was so pleased with how the other 2 blended in and gave a sculpted effect, and for £7.95 it’s not badly priced.
I then moved onto my lips. I prepped them with the w7 lip scrub and then after applying lip liner I used the winter nudes shade in superstar, although it is a lot pinker in real life, it’s a lovely shade with a great texture. It didn’t dry it make my lips feel sticky….if anything they felt a little hydrated! They have a large range of nudes so there is something for everybody, they retail at £4.95 each so as with all the products they too are reasonably priced.
And then we move onto my favourite, my highlight (pun intended) if you will….the glocomotion highlighter/shimmer. This was a dream, it went on so nice when applied with a flat fan brush and can be built from a natural shimmer to a poppin’ highlight. This has become one of my favourite highlighters and earned it’s place in my makeup bag!
I highly recommend checking these guys out as they have so many dupe palettes and great other products! I haven’t been asked to do this by anyone nor was I sent anything I bought all of these with my own money as I as curious about the dupes and their quality.
It’s that time of the year again when our old friend frizz rears its horrible little head and ruins our hair! But no more….I’ve had enough!
I was lucky enough to be sent the latest john Freida frizz ease shampoo and conditioner. I have always been a fan of frizz ease as they really do work! And these products were no exception. They have such a nice smell and texture and using them is a dream and knowing they deliver the goods is another bonus!
I simply dried my hair using my hair dryer and I could see the difference no flyaways hair or frizzy ends, just lovely smooth sleek hair! I have and always will recommend John Frieda as they really do what they say on the tin and delivery quality everyone!
If you, like me, have to fight the frizz then you need this range! Click the link below to see what other amazing products they have to offer:
